Psalm 1
1Joyful is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly,
And in the way of sinners, has not stood,
And in the seat of scoffers, has not sat!
2But in the teachings of the Lord is his delight,
And on His teachings he meditates day and night.
3He is like a tree planted by rivers of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither,
And everything he does prospers.
4Not so with the ungodly!
But they are like chaff which is scattered by the wind.
5Therefore the ungodly will not stand up in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous,
6For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalm 2
1Why have you conspired, oh nations?
And peoples, why do you plot in vain?
2They have taken their stand, the kings of the earth,
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and His Anointed:
3”Let us tear apart their bonds,
And cast away from us their cords!”
4He who sits in Heaven shall laugh,
The Lord shall mock them.
5Then He will speak to them in his wrath,
And in His burning anger He will terrify them:
6”I myself have set (or poured out???) My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
